Evangelion’s Godzilla Collab Returns with Epic New S.H.MonsterArts Figure
TAMASHII NATIONS has announced that pre-orders are about to open for one of its most unique Evangelion figures yet, which will see the terrifying “EVANGELION Unit-01 G-Awakening Form” join the S.H.MonsterArts lineup.
Godzilla vs. Evangelion began as a special collaboration project in 2016 following the release of Shin Godzilla, uniting two of Japan’s most influential franchises through original concepts, artwork and collectibles that imagine how their worlds might collide.
One of the collaboration’s most memorable creations is the G-Awakening Form, a horrifying alternate version of Evangelion Unit-01 imagined after being struck by Godzilla’s atomic breath and mutating into a monstrous hybrid unlike anything seen in either series.
Produced in collaboration with X-PLUS, who have previously released figures based on the Godzilla vs. Evangelion crossover such as the DEFOREAL Unit-01 and DEFOREAL Unit-02, this new S.H.MonsterArts release faithfully recreates the grotesque design while combining the detailed sculpting and articulation that have made the figure line a favorite among kaiju collectors.
Standing approximately 15 cm tall, the figure captures the unsettling transformation as Godzilla-like flesh erupts through Unit-01’s restraints, creating an appearance that looks as though the Evangelion is being consumed from within.
The sculpt carefully recreates the rough texture of Godzilla’s skin across the mutated body while preserving Unit-01’s recognizable slender proportions and signature green dorsal fins.
Despite its heavily altered appearance, the figure retains an impressive range of articulation, allowing collectors to recreate dramatic poses ranging from aggressive forward lunges to intimidating arched-back stances and low crouching positions.
A selection of interchangeable accessories is also included, featuring the signature Atomic Breath effect part, an alternate horn and a dedicated display stand for more dynamic presentation options.
The combination of S.H.MonsterArts engineering and the surreal design created for the Godzilla vs. Evangelion project makes this one of the most distinctive crossover figures produced to date.
The S.H.MonsterArts EVANGELION Unit-01 G-Awakening Form is priced at ¥17,600 (approx. $119 USD / £88 GBP).
Pre-orders are scheduled to open on July 10, 2026, through Premium Bandai and reputable hobby goods retailers such as HobbyLink Japan.
The figure is currently scheduled for release in December 2026.
