Popular Evangelion x Godzilla Unit-02 Figure Gets a Premium Metallic Makeover
PLEX and X-PLUS have officially opened pre-orders for a new version of their DEFOREAL “Evangelion Unit-02 Beast “G” Mode” figure, which is based on the hugely popular Godzilla vs. Evangelion crossover project.
Godzilla vs. Evangelion is a special crossover that first launched in 2016 following the release of Shin Godzilla, directed by Hideaki Anno, bringing together two of Japan’s most influential science fiction franchises through a wide range of exclusive merchandise, collectibles, and original collaborations.
One of its most unique concepts first appeared in the pachinko title P Godzilla vs. Evangelion ~G-Cell Awakening~, which introduced an original storyline that merged the worlds of Godzilla and Evangelion into a single universe.
Within that story, Evangelion Unit-01 is struck by Godzilla’s devastating atomic breath and becomes infected with G-Cells, triggering a grotesque mutation that combines characteristics of both legendary franchises and later inspired one of the crossover’s most sought-after collectible figures.
Following the recent reveal of the DEFOREAL “Evangelion Unit-01 “G” Awakening Form Metallic Color Ver.”, the metallic treatment has been applied to Unit-02, giving collectors another companion piece based on the crossover’s unique interpretations of the Evangelion units.
The new DEFOREAL “Evangelion Unit-02 Beast “G” Mode” revisits the previously released standard version, replacing the original red and orange paintwork with metallic paint to create a glossier and more premium finish.
Standing approximately 18 cm tall, the figure faithfully recreates Unit-02’s battle-damaged restraint armor, the multiple deployed limiters mounted across its back, and the Godzilla-inspired biological mutations spreading throughout its body.
Its sculpt also captures rough organic skin textures, coral-like dorsal fins and a lengthy tail, emphasizing the monstrous hybrid design created specifically for the crossover project.
Although the DEFOREAL range uses stylized super-deformed proportions, the figure still delivers an impressive level of realistic sculpting that preserves the creature’s intimidating presence.
The roaring head is particularly striking, featuring eerie white eyes and multiple rows of razor-sharp teeth that give the figure a distinctly different appearance from the larger Toho 30 cm Series releases.
The DEFOREAL Evangelion Unit-02 Beast “G” Mode Metallic Color Ver. is priced at ¥16,500 (approx. $115 USD / £84 GBP) and is scheduled for release in September 2026, with pre-orders exclusively available through Shonen RIC, Premium Bandai, Godzilla Store, and Evangelion Store.
