Evangelion Reveals First Look at New Watch Collab Featuring Unit-01 and Sachiel
Image by James RichardsonWatchmaker ANICORN has revealed the first two designs from a new Evangelion watch collaboration inspired by one of the anime’s most memorable battles.
The new “ANICORN × EVANGELION NGE COLLECTION” introduces the “Evangelion Test Type-01 Automatic” and “The 3rd Angel Quartz”, transforming two iconic designs from the original series into mechanical and quartz timepieces.

Neon Genesis Evangelion first aired in Japan in October 1995 and follows Shinji Ikari, a teenager recruited by the mysterious organisation NERV to pilot the biomechanical Evangelion Unit-01 against powerful enemies known as Angels.

One of the anime’s defining early moments sees Shinji face Sachiel, the Third Angel and the first to attack Tokyo-3, in his initial battle as an Evangelion pilot.

For this new collaboration, ANICORN has used Unit-01’s layered armour and exposed mechanical structure as the inspiration for an intricate automatic watch featuring the Eva’s signature purple, green and orange colour scheme.

The dial incorporates several mechanical-inspired elements, with a white NERV logo positioned inside a prominent hexagonal section at its centre.

The second design takes a considerably more minimalist approach, with “The 3rd Angel Quartz” drawing inspiration from Sachiel’s appearance in the original television series.

A sculpted representation of the Angel’s face sits at the 12 o’clock position, with its exposed red core recreated at 6 o’clock and an A.T. Field motif incorporated into the watch’s crown.

ANICORN is an independent watchmaker known for its experimental designs and collaborations with major entertainment franchises, having previously worked with PlayStation, SEGA and Kojima Productions.

Earlier in 2026, the brand also unveiled an elaborate “Ludens X Watch Set” in collaboration with Kojima Productions, featuring a mechanical watch supervised by Hideo Kojima and designed with the involvement of Yoji Shinkawa.

ANICORN’s new Evangelion collection follows several other watch collaborations released during the franchise’s ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations, including GARRACK’s mechanical watch collection featuring handcrafted Japanese raden dials and RADIO EVA’s limited-edition Seiko watch inspired by Unit-02.

ANICORN has yet to confirm the detailed specifications of its new Evangelion watches, although the Unit-01 model’s hexagonal design recalls the brand’s existing “Cassini Nemesis” automatic watch, which incorporates six-sided elements throughout its case, crystal and dial.

The “Cassini Nemesis” is currently priced from $600, increasing to $650 with a metal bracelet, but ANICORN has not confirmed whether the Evangelion version shares its underlying mechanism or how much either new model will cost.

Specifications for both watches will officially be revealed when orders open on October 26, 2026, at 10PM EDT (October 27 at 11AM JST) via the official Anicorn online store.
