Don’t Fret Launches October 1 With a New PS5 Version

Publisher Digital Pajamas and developer Scary Kid Studios have announced that the first-person psychological horror game Don’t Fret is set to launch on October 1, 2026.
The title will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via the Steam and Microsoft Store platforms.
While originally planned for other systems, the PlayStation 5 version is a newly revealed addition to the release lineup.
Players can currently access a demo for the PC version to experience the gameplay ahead of the full launch.
The game follows the journey of Fret, a sentient guitar trapped within the decaying hallways of a musical nightmare known as Harmonic Heights.
This mascot-horror experience blends psychological themes with musical surrealism across environments such as classrooms, underground tunnels, and courtyards.
Narrative elements are delivered through audio logs and cinematic cutscenes that explore themes of exploitation and identity.
Gameplay features a diegetic guitar tuner HUD that tracks health, stamina, and battery while also detecting nearby threats through sound.
Players must navigate adaptive enemy encounters using stealth or observation, as some foes respond to noise while others cannot be fought directly.
A variety of instrument-based puzzles involving pianos, drums, and harps are included, featuring a guitar-inspired lock mechanism called the G-PAD.
The project features a dynamic soundtrack composed by Russell McKamey of Rockit Music, a group recognized for its significant presence in the Nerdcore music genre.
