Critically acclaimed Gundam movie’s sequel gets a release date and new trailer
The second film in the highly anticipated “Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway” trilogy has been officially announced for a theatrical release this winter.
The new film will be titled “Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Witch of Circe”.
Alongside this reveal, the production team has released a special trailer and a selection of realistic scene cuts, offering fans a first look at the sequel’s stunning visuals and intense atmosphere.
“Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway” is based on a series of novels written by Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino and is a direct sequel to the 1988 film “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack”.
The first film in the “Hathaway” trilogy was released in June 2021. It was a major box-office success and earned critical acclaim for its excellent animation and mature storytelling.
The series is set in the Universal Century timeline in the year UC 0105, twelve years after the events of “Char’s Counterattack”.
The protagonist of the series is Hathaway Noa, the son of the legendary Earth Federation hero, Bright Noa.
Haunted by the tragic events of the Second Neo Zeon War, Hathaway has started to work with the anti-Earth Federation organization “Mafty” under the pseudonym “Mafty Navue Erin”.
His goal is to assassinate corrupt Earth Federation government officials who have accelerated the pollution of Earth and implemented a cruel “Man Hunter” policy that forcibly deports civilians to space colonies.
Hathaway pilots the powerful RX-105 Xi Gundam, a cutting-edge mobile suit equipped with Minovsky Craft capabilities that allow it to fly freely in Earth’s atmosphere.
The newly announced sequel, “Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Witch of Circe”, will continue the drama centered on Hathaway Noah as he grapples with his role in “Mafty”.
While details about the film’s specific plot are still under wraps, the released scene cuts and trailer suggest a continuation of the first film’s intense action and psychological depth.
The first film saw Hathaway’s journey to Earth, his encounter with the mysterious Gigi Andalucia, and his clashes with the Earth Federation’s Circe Unit, led by the rival pilot Lane Aim in the RX-104FF Penelope.
Fans can expect the sequel to delve deeper into these character dynamics and expand upon the complex political landscape of the Universal Century.
