A Chinese national has been arrested in Tokyo for her alleged involvement in a hit and run incident.

Yu Siulin, a Chinese company executive residing in Toshima Ward, Tokyo, was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license and causing injury to a third party.

In a statement issued by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, it was confirmed that the suspect is accused of driving a car without a license in the city’s Taito Ward, where she allegedly hit a woman in her 50s before fleeing the scene.

Footage of the woman being driven away in a police car was aired on Japanese news (NNN)

The woman was fortunately not majorly injured, suffering a sprained neck amongst other minor ailments.

The suspect was confirmed as having had her driving licence revoked in 2023 for repeated traffic violations, including speeding.

Upon her arrest, the suspect admitted to the charges, confirming that she had “fled the scene without reporting the incident” as she knew she would be found to be driving without a valid license.
