Black Torch Anime Set to Premiere July 2026

The upcoming anime adaptation of the BLACK TORCH manga is officially set to premiere in Japan on July 4, 2026, as announced during a stage event at AnimeJapan 2026.

The series, which adapts the original manga by Tsuyoshi Takaki, will be broadcast on TOKYO MX and other Japanese networks.

International audiences will be able to watch the series through Crunchyroll, which will stream the anime as it premieres in July 2026.

The manga originally ran in Jump Square and Shonen Jump+ from December 2016 to July 2018, concluding with a total of five volumes.

VIZ Media publishes the English version of the manga, which follows the story of Jiro Azuma, a young man who can communicate with animals.

Jiro’s life changes forever when he fuses with a mysterious stray cat and is pulled into a secret conflict involving powerful Japanese spirits known as mononoke.

The production revealed new voice cast members for the series’ main villains, with Toshiyuki Morikawa voicing Amagi and Nobuhiko Okamoto taking on the role of Koga.

To commemorate the casting announcement, manga creator Tsuyoshi Takaki released a new illustration featuring both Amagi and Koga.

The anime is being produced at 100studio under the direction of Kei Umabiki, who previously worked on Quality Assurance in Another World.

Gigaemon Ichikawa is handling the scripts and series composition, while Go Suzuki provides character designs and Yutaka Yamada composes the musical score.
