Bandai Opens Pre-Orders for Two New Gundam X Gunpla Kits
Bandai has officially opened pre-orders for two highly anticipated additions to its High Grade model kit lineup based on After War Gundam X.
The two new Gunpla kits bring the signature mobile suits driven by the antagonistic Frost brothers into the modern HG format for the first time.
Set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future, the 1996 anime series follows a devastated Earth struggling to rebuild fifteen years after a cataclysmic space colony drop wiped out most of the human population.
The storyline centers on mobile suit pilots and military factions fighting over leftover war technology, most notably the ultra-destructive Satellite System weapon that relies on a super-heated microwave power relay beamed down from a base on the moon.
As a prominent entry in the long-running Gundam franchise, this specific alternate universe timeline has maintained a dedicated following among mecha enthusiasts who appreciate its darker, survival-focused narrative.
This first in this newly revealed pair of Gunpla kits allows builders to recreate the formidable personal unit of Shagia Frost, the older of the twin pilots, with the debut of the HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago.
Engineering updates to the modern HG format allow this kit to fully replicate its signature tactical gimmicks without losing structural stability.
It also features expanding strike claws hidden within the arms alongside a deploying abdominal section that exposes the devastating triple mega sonic gun hidden inside.
Accessories include a pair of strike shooters, specialized combination parts to merge the weapons together, a beam saber, a full set of hands, and a foil sticker sheet.
Launching right alongside his brother is Olba Frost’s heavy assault unit, the HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron.
This massive mobile suit features fully functional atomic scissors that can extend, retract, and move dynamically without requiring any part swapping.
The included beam spear can also be configured into its unique crossbow form, and the kit utilizes a few interchangeable parts to transform completely into its Mobile Armor flight mode.
Builders can even place the HG Gundam Virsago directly on top of the transformed flight unit to seamlessly recreate their famous combined attack scenes from the anime.
The 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron also comes complete with a beam spear, a beam saber with its clear effect part, a full hand selection, structural joint parts, and a foil sticker sheet.
The HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago is priced at 3,190 yen (approx. $20 USD / £16 GBP), while the larger HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron is priced at 3,960 yen (approx. $25 USD / £20 GBP).

The Gundam Virsago model kit is due to ship in October 2026, followed shortly by the Gundam Ashtaron, which will be released in November 2026.
