Bandai Opens Orders for HG Gundam Barbatos Adapt

A new High Grade model kit of the Gundam Barbatos Adapt, a unique variation from the Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans timeline, has been announced.

This release celebrates the 10th anniversary of the popular mecha series, specifically drawing from the new commemorative short film titled “The Wedge of Interlude”.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans follows the story of Mikazuki Augus and the members of Tekkadan, a group of child soldiers who rebel against their abusive commanders and strive for independence on Mars.

The Gundam Barbatos serves as the primary mobile suit for Mikazuki, known for its demonic appearance and raw, physical combat style that relies on crushing weapons rather than beam weaponry.

The “Barbatos Adapt” represents a specific transitional form in the mobile suit’s history, acting as the missing link between the damaged unit from the fierce battle in Edmonton and its eventual upgrade into the Gundam Barbatos Lupus.

In the series lore, this configuration is the result of Tekkadan’s mechanics repairing the machine with available resources to keep it operational.

The kit features a completely new exterior sculpt that reproduces the mobile suit’s massive and rugged silhouette as seen in the animation.

It includes moveable waist thruster units and is equipped with two types of swords, a large and a small Tachi, which were provided by the Jupiter-based conglomerate Teiwaz.

Technological updates have also been applied to the internal Gundam Frame, utilizing KPS material for certain joint parts instead of traditional polycaps to ensure greater stability and an improved range of motion for dynamic posing.

The box art will feature a new illustration by the show’s chief mechanical animator, Hiroshi Arisawa.

The “HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos Adapt” is priced at 2,420 yen (approx. $15.41 USD,£11.37 GBP), and pre-orders officially began on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
