“Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO” takes place between Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY and 2024’s Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, filling in part of the Cosmic Era timeline before the formation of COMPASS and the conflict with the Kingdom of Foundation.
The Infinite Justice Gundam originally became Athrun’s final Mobile Suit during SEED DESTINY, succeeding his earlier Justice Gundam and retaining the close-combat focus that has defined several of his machines throughout the series.
By the time of SEED FREEDOM, Athrun instead pilots the upgraded Infinite Justice Gundam Type II, which remains hidden beneath the armor of a Z’Gok for much of his involvement in the movie before being revealed during the final battle.
FREEDOM ZERO now provides a closer look at the period between those two versions, with the original Infinite Justice among the returning Mobile Suits confirmed for the prequel.
Bandai’s new figure reproduces the colors used by the Infinite Justice in the upcoming movie, with additional markings applied across the body to increase the mechanical detail of the finished display.
The head has also been newly sculpted specifically to match its appearance in “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO”.
Its biggest newly revealed piece of equipment is the “Hayato no Tate,” a shield created for the prequel and included with dedicated beam effect parts.
Bandai has not yet detailed every accessory included with the release, leaving further information about its weapons, articulation, and other display options to be announced closer to launch.
Other recent METAL ROBOT SPIRITS releases have focused on Athrun’s later appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, including the “METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Z’Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.)”.
The Z’Gok recreates the heavily armored disguise concealing the Infinite Justice Gundam Type II in SEED FREEDOM, complete with the Volantes flight unit, battle-damaged head option, and heated Slashing Fang Claw effects.
Bandai has also produced the “METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Cavalier Aifrid,” the large support unit that can combine with Athrun’s Z’Gok and later the exposed Infinite Justice Gundam Type II during the movie’s final battles.

Bandai also revealed the first three FREEDOM ZERO Gunpla kits, led by the “HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam & Booster Unit” alongside the “HG 1/144 Murasame Kai (Early Production Type)” and “HG 1/144 Gouf Ignited Custom”.

The panel also confirmed that “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO” will open in Japanese cinemas on January 15, 2027, with the prequel following Shinn and the returning cast after the collapse of Gilbert Durandal’s Destiny Plan and the theft of the Strike Freedom Gundam from COMPASS’ temporary base.
The “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Series Grand Prix 2026” was announced alongside the movie news, allowing fans to vote for their favorite moments from 287 scenes featuring 55 characters across Gundam SEED, SEED DESTINY and SEED FREEDOM.
Elsewhere in the wider Cosmic Era lineup, Bandai recently revealed the “METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Rising Freedom Gundam Radiance Grandeur” as the first premium figure from the revived “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM MSV” project.
