Bandai Confirms US Re-Release for Gundam Unicorn’s Exclusive MG Jegan Type-D Gunpla Kit
Image by Charlotte DavisAn exclusive Master Grade Gunpla kit based on the early deployment version of the Jegan Type-D is officially returning to the US, giving builders another chance to add its distinctive red and white color scheme to their collection.
The returning “MG 1/100 JEGAN TYPE-D (FIRST DEPLOYMENT TYPE)” recreates the Earth Federation mass-production mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam UC MSV, using the existing MG Jegan Type-D as its foundation.
The Jegan Type-D was developed as an updated version of the Earth Federation’s long-serving RGM-89 Jegan, introducing revisions that would also provide the basis for several more specialized machines seen throughout the Universal Century timeline.
Its First Deployment Type represents machines fielded during U.C. 0094, before the more familiar green-colored Jegan Type-D units seen throughout Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn entered wider service.
These early machines instead use a striking white base color combined with red across the chest, waist, feet, and other sections of the armor, creating an appearance more closely associated with earlier Earth Federation and GM mobile suits.
Bandai reproduces the complete red, white, and gray color scheme through separate molded parts, allowing the defining appearance of the First Deployment Type to be recreated without requiring extensive painting.
The kit also includes exclusive water-transfer decals covering caution markings and other mechanical details associated with the variant.
Its equipment remains focused on the practical armament of the Jegan Type-D, with a beam rifle, beam saber, and shield joined by hand grenades for additional ranged firepower.
The underlying Master Grade frame provides extensive articulation across the arms, legs and torso, allowing the comparatively streamlined Federation mobile suit to be displayed in a wide selection of firing and combat poses.
Bandai originally released the Premium Bandai-exclusive kit in June 2020, making the new US production run another opportunity to secure a version of the Jegan that has remained outside the regular retail Gunpla lineup.
Another member of the same mobile suit family recently returned for US builders through the “MG 1/100 Stark Jegan”, which uses the Jegan Type-D as its foundation before adding heavier armor, shoulder-mounted missile pods, a Hyper Bazooka and additional thruster equipment for its anti-ship combat role.
Pre-orders for the exclusive “MG 1/100 JEGAN TYPE-D (FIRST DEPLOYMENT TYPE)”, priced at $59, are now available through Premium Bandai US and are currently scheduled to remain open until January 16, 2027 at 2:59 AM EST, although reservations may close earlier if the available allocation sells out.
Orders are currently scheduled to ship in February 2027.
