Ascendance Expansion Announced for Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom officially announced the massive Monster Hunter Wilds expansion titled Ascendance during the Summer Game Fest on June 5, 2026.

This major content update is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.

In a significant update released at 10:05 pm on the day of the announcement, Capcom also confirmed that a version of Monster Hunter Wilds is currently in development for the Switch 2.

The expansion takes players to a new high-altitude locale known as the Skybound Eyrie, which features islands suspended in the clouds above the Forbidden Lands.

Hunters will utilize their Seikret mounts to glide between these floating islands, offering a fresh perspective on traversal and exploration.

A new piece of equipment called the Boost Bracer will be introduced, adding specialized actions, attacks, and mobility options for all 14 weapon types.

The challenge increases with the return of Master Rank content and the reappearance of powerful Elder Dragons like Kushala Daora.

Players can access the story of Ascendance once they have completed the 7★ Quest titled Awaking from a Dream in the base game.

Director Takuro Hiraoka and producer Ryozo Tsujimoto shared these details in a 10-minute developer message, highlighting new monster packs that exhibit coordinated aerial attacks.

While Monster Hunter Wilds is currently available on modern platforms, fans can look forward to the next chapter of the Expedition Team’s journey when the expansion arrives in 2027.
