Mt Hodo Plum Blossom Festival 2026

The Nagatoro area of Chichibu in Saitama Prefecture is preparing for the arrival of its annual plum blossom festival at the summit of Mt Hodo.
The upcoming seasonal event will center around a sprawling grove that contains nearly 500 individual plum trees which are expected to create a vibrant landscape of color against the mountain backdrop.
Organized by the Nagatoro Tourism Association, the festivities are scheduled to align with the peak blooming period as determined by local weather patterns and the natural cycles of surrounding flora.
Visitors to the mountain will have the opportunity to participate in various special activities including organized hiking excursions and events centered around local food offerings.
While no direct roads lead to the summit, guests can access the grove by taking a scenic ropeway ride from the base of the mountain which reaches the top in just a few minutes.
Those seeking a more active experience can choose to reach the festival site via an uphill hike that typically takes approximately one hour to complete.
Travelers arriving by public transport can use Nagatoro Station on the Chichibu Tetsudo line where a shuttle bus normally provides connecting service to the ropeway station.
The festival site is also accessible for those traveling by car via the Hanazono Interchange on the Kanetsu Expressway followed by a drive toward the Nagatoro Minano Interchange.
This celebration often coincides with the final days of the wintersweet festival held in an adjacent garden, allowing guests to experience two different floral displays in a single trip.
