Iwatsuki Castle Park Sakura Festival 2026

Last Updated on March 5, 2026

Iwatsuki Castle Park in Saitama Prefecture is preparing to host its annual sakura festival, an event that has celebrated the arrival of spring for nearly five decades.

The park is recognized as one of the premier locations in the region for cherry blossom viewing, featuring approximately 600 trees that create a vibrant pink canopy across the grounds.

During the two-day celebration, visitors can explore a variety of stalls offering food, drinks, and local produce, as well as plants and flowers for sale.

Cultural programming for the weekend includes powerful taiko drumming performances scheduled specifically for the Sunday portion of the event.

As evening approaches, the atmosphere will change with the introduction of lantern illuminations that are set to light up the blossoms from 6pm until 9pm.

Travelers planning to attend can access the site via a 25 minute walk from Higashi Iwatsuki Station on the Tobu Urban Park Line.

For those arriving by car, the venue is situated 10 minutes from the Iwatsuki IC on the Tohoku Expressway, though local parking is expected to reach capacity quickly during the festivities.
