The Tokinosumika Resort in the Gotemba area of Shizuoka is preparing to host its annual Hikarinosumika illumination display, a premier winter event that attracts visitors from across the region.
Known also as Gotemba Kogen, this family friendly destination maintains light displays throughout the year, but the winter season represents the most significant and expansive installation on its calendar.
The centerpiece of the upcoming event is a long, straight walkway connecting the restaurant precinct to the resort’s various lodging options, including yurts and wooden lodges.
This path will be completely encased in light to create a shimmering tunnel for guests to walk through during the evening hours.
Additional attractions include the illuminated hill area, which features a playground and the Bell of Love, as well as the brightly lit Sakura chapel and various artistic installations scattered across the grounds.
Travelers planning to attend can access the resort via a private shuttle bus that operates between the local train station and the venue, or by using infrequent public bus services.
For those arriving by car, the Susuno Interchange on the Tomei Expressway is recommended as a faster alternative to the often congested Gotemba Junction exit.
Visitors can expect a variety of on-site amenities, as the resort combines seasonal light displays with its existing reputation for hot springs, local craft beer, and varied accommodation styles.
