Expo 70 Commemorative Park Plum Festival 2026
Last Updated on March 5, 2026

The Expo 70 Commemorative Park in Osaka is preparing to host its annual plum festival, celebrating the arrival of early spring blooms.
This seasonal event will showcase approximately 600 plum trees across 120 different varieties within the natural and cultural garden plum grove.
An additional 80 trees representing 40 varieties will be on display in the Japanese garden plum grove, offering visitors a wide array of colors and fragrances.
While many travelers focus on the later cherry blossom season, this festival highlights the plum blossom as a significant cultural precursor to the spring festivities in Japan.
The park serves as a major landmark in the region and was originally the site of the 1970 World Exposition, providing a historical backdrop for the floral displays.
Attendees can reach the venue with a short walk from Banpaku-kinen-koen Station, which is easily accessible via the Osaka Monorail line.
Prospective visitors should note that the park maintains a regular closing schedule on Wednesdays throughout the duration of the event.
The festival provides a unique opportunity for nature photography and peaceful walks through two of the most well-maintained plum groves in the prefecture.
