Universal Studios and Pokémon Announce Major Global Project

Universal Studios and The Pokémon Company have announced the launch of a new large-scale project designed to provide “innovative, world-class Pokémon experiences.”
This initiative aims to build upon the existing collaboration between the two companies to create unprecedented, interactive entertainment that deepens the guest’s immersion in the Pokémon world.

While the project will make its debut at the Universal Studios Japan (USJ) theme park in Osaka, the companies have confirmed plans to expand the experience to other Universal Destinations & Experiences locations around the globe following its launch in Japan.
The two entities first formed a medium-to-long-term strategic alliance in 2021.

Since then, they have introduced various entertainment offerings, such as the appearance of Pokémon in the “NO LIMIT! Parade” and seasonal Halloween shows.
This new project marks a significant evolution in their partnership, moving beyond temporary shows to create a more permanent and technologically advanced presence.

Tsunekazu Ishihara, President and CEO of The Pokémon Company, highlighted the timing of the project, noting that 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise:
“We are delighted to begin this new project in earnest during such a significant milestone year”

“We aim to create new entertainment unique to theme parks that enriches the real world, continuing to provide surprises to people around the globe.”
Taku Murayama, President of USJ, expressed enthusiasm about the park serving as the launchpad for this global endeavor:
“We have delivered ‘real Pokémon experiences’ through parades and shows, and now we will create innovative experiences that go beyond the framework of traditional entertainment”

Mark Woodbury, Chairman and CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, added that the collaboration allows them to create “mind-blowing attraction experiences” that exceed guest expectations.
Specific details regarding the content of the new attractions and the exact launch timing will be announced at a later date.

The announcement comes as Universal Studios Japan prepares for its own 25th anniversary in 2026, which will be celebrated under the theme “Discover U!!!”
