Umamusume developer announces new sponsorship deal with the world’s top horse racing festival
Japanese video game developer Cygames has announced that it will once again have a presence at one of the most prestigious international horse racing festivals in the world, The Breeders’ Cup.
Cygames is the acclaimed developer behind the massively popular horse-racing-themed video game Umamusume Pretty Derby.
The Breeders’ Cup is a major, year-end event that brings together the best horses, owners, trainers, and jockeys from around the globe and this year’s event features a total prize purse of over $34 million.
This new agreement is a continuation of a partnership that was first established last year.
As part of the partnership, Cygames will once again be the title sponsor for a specific race at the event, the “Cygames Breeders’ Cup Sprint.”
During this race, the Cygames logo will be displayed on the starting gate and on the saddle cloths of the participating horses.
The “Cygames Breeders’ Cup Sprint” is a six-furlong (approximately 1,200-meter) dirt race for male and female horses aged three and up.
This partnership is a unique fusion of the real world of international horse racing with the world of a Japanese video game that is a tribute to the sport.
The Breeders’ Cup World Championships 2025 will be held at the Del Mar Racetrack in California.
The two-day event is scheduled to take place on Friday, the 31st of October, and Saturday, the 1st of November, with the “Cygames Breeders’ Cup Sprint” being held on the second day.
