Tropical-themed Gundam Hawaiian shirts arrive just in time for summer

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of “Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam”, STRICT-G has unveiled a new line of Hawaiian shirts.
These limited-edition garments feature designs inspired by two iconic mobile suits from the anime series.

“Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam,” which first aired in 1985, is the second television series in the “Gundam” franchise.
“Zeta Gundam” introduced many fan-favorite mobile suit designs, including the transforming MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam and the distinctive gold-plated MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki, both of which are central to this new fashion collaboration.

These new shirts are not the only items STRICT-G has produced to celebrate the series’ 40th anniversary.
They previously announced a line of “Made in Japan” T-shirts that take inspiration from traditional Japanese artwork.

The STRICT-G “Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam” Aloha Shirts blend tropical aesthetics with subtle nods to the Gundam universe.
Aloha shirts are a style of clothing that originates from Hawaii and are often simply referred to as Hawaiian shirts in the mainland USA and the rest of the English-speaking world.

The new Gundam aloha shirt designs are described as “tropical chic,” incorporating motifs of mobile suits alongside hibiscus-patterned letters.
Constructed from 100% rayon, these shirts are designed for comfort, especially in warmer climates.
Rayon is a semi-synthetic fiber made from regenerated cellulose, typically derived from wood pulp.
It is known for its light weight, softness, and excellent drape, which gives garments a fluid and elegant silhouette.

Rayon’s high breathability and moisture-absorbent properties make it an ideal material for summer wear, ensuring comfort even during hot weather.
The shirts can be worn as standalone pieces or as a light outer layer over other clothing.
The collection features two different patterns:
- The “Zeta Gundam pattern” features the titular Gundam standing atop a letter Z covered in a floral hibiscus pattern.

- The “Hyaku Shiki pattern” similarly features the mobile suit standing on a floral-patterned kanji character “百”. This character is pronounced “Hyaku” and stands for the number 100.

Both of these shirts are available in sizes M, L, XL, and XXL.
Each shirt is priced at 16,500 yen (approx. $114 USD / £84 GBP).
