Super Monkey Ball Joins Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds in Free Update

Sega’s high-speed racer is getting a touch of banana-fueled mayhem as Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds officially launches its latest free update today, February 12th.
The update introduces the protagonist from the Super Monkey Ball series, AiAi, as a playable racer.

Alongside the primate hero, players will gain access to his signature vehicle, the Banana Cruiser, adding some quirky and colorful flair to the game’s growing roster of crossover machines.

Four iconic tracks from the Super Monkey Ball franchise have been added to the in-game jukebox, allowing players to set these nostalgic tunes as their background music during intense competitive races.

Coinciding with the update, the Super Monkey Ball Festa event is scheduled to run from Friday, February 13th, at 9:00 JST until the morning of February 16th.

During this limited-time online event, players will be split into three teams to compete for the highest total ranking points across several races.

Each Festa session introduces special rules, such as challenges that reward teams for performing the most “touch dashes.”

Participants can earn Festa Points to unlock exclusive customization items, including collaboration-themed stickers and unique car horns.

In addition to the Monkey Ball festivities, Sega is offering a seasonal bonus for all players.

Anyone who logs into the game between February 13th and February 27th will receive a SONIC ART Shadow (Sakura) sticker.

This cherry blossom-themed cosmetic is available across all platforms, perfect for those looking to give their machines a spring-inspired makeover.

To celebrate the launch of the latest update, Sega has also released a dedicated introduction video showcasing AiAi’s unique driving style and the Banana Cruiser in action.
