STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT delayed to 2026 as new visuals revealed

Developer MAGES. has officially announced that the release of the highly anticipated visual novel STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT has been delayed.
Originally scheduled for a 2025 launch, the title is now aiming for a release in 2026.

The developer stated the delay is necessary to further improve the quality of the graphics and optimize the game system to meet modern standards.

STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is a comprehensive remake of the legendary science-adventure game, which first launched on the Xbox 360 in 2009.

The project involves renewing almost all assets and adding new story elements to the original narrative, rather than simply remastering the existing game.

To accompany the delay announcement, MAGES. released a set of preview images showcasing the game’s significant visual updates.

The character designs have been refined by the original artist, huke, featuring redesigned outfits and more detailed expressions.

The backgrounds have also been meticulously recreated to reflect the Akihabara of 2010.

The team used thorough research to depict the city with photo-realistic precision, including landmarks and buildings that no longer exist in the real world today.

New illustrations have been re-created from the storyboards and have been designed to be more dramatic and immersive than the original.

Fans can expect more information soon, as MAGES. plans to reveal further details at the “WePlay Expo 2025” in Shanghai, which takes place from November 22 to November 23.

STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is now scheduled for release in 2026 and specific release platforms and pricing have not yet been announced.
