Square Enix Announces Limited Edition Kingdom Hearts Soundtrack Collection Signed by Yoko Shimomura
Square Enix is officially giving one of Kingdom Hearts’ most substantial soundtrack collections a limited edition re-release that will feature the signature of legendary composer Yoko Shimomura.
The “KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep & 358/2 Days Original Soundtrack” signed edition collects 80 tracks across three CDs, covering music from Birth by Sleep, 358/2 Days, Re and Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX.
The album was originally released in Japan on February 2, 2011, before returning for a re-release in 2024 alongside several other Kingdom Hearts soundtracks.
For this latest 2026 re-release, which retains the same format as the 2011 original rather than adding new arrangements or bonus music, Square Enix has recruited the Kingdom Heart’s series iconic composer Yoko Shimomura to personally sign each copy, turning it into a must-have collectors edition for fans of the series.
Shimomura’s work has been central to the sound of Kingdom Hearts since the original game, and the collection includes some of her best work, including “Dearly Beloved -KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep Version-,” “Terra,” “Ventus,” “Aqua,” “Musique pour la tristesse de Xion” and “Vector to the Heavens”.
Discs one and two primarily focus on Birth by Sleep, while the third moves through music from 358/2 Days, Re, and additional Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX material.
The new limited edition soundtrack arrives as Kingdom Hearts moves toward its 25th anniversary in March 2027, with Square Enix already preparing a major anniversary exhibition in Tokyo featuring Keyblade replicas, recreated scenes, development materials and new merchandise.
Music has also remained a major part of the franchise’s recent merchandise output, with Square Enix continuing to reissue popular products such as the “Dearly Beloved” music box following repeated sellouts.
Image by Charlotte DavisThe signed release has been created as part of Square Enix’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 celebrations, with the company offering several autographed products through its Japanese e-STORE to celebrate its appearance at the event.
Importantly, the signed items will not be sold from the physical Square Enix merchandise booth at Tokyo Game Show, with applications instead being handled entirely through an online lottery so fans do not need to attend the event itself.
Applications for the signed “KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep & 358/2 Days Original Soundtrack” are open through the Japanese Square Enix e-STORE until September 22 at 12:00 AM JST, with purchases limited to one copy per person.
Square Enix states that each copy has already been opened once so that the autograph could be added, while successful applicants are expected to receive the album on October 10, 2026.
The signed edition is priced at ¥3,981 (approximately $26 / £19), the same listed price as the standard 2024 reissue despite the addition of Shimomura’s signature.
