First released in 1995 for the Super Famicom, Chrono Trigger is widely regarded as one of the greatest RPGs ever created.

The game emerged from a high-profile collaboration between Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, and Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, bringing together some of the most influential names in Japanese gaming and manga.

Its story follows a group of heroes traveling across multiple eras, from prehistoric times to a distant future, in an effort to prevent a global catastrophe and reshape the fate of their world.

Music played a major role in establishing the game’s enduring reputation, with composers Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu creating a soundtrack that remains highly regarded decades after its debut.

The score’s wide range of styles reflected the game’s journey through different periods of history, helping each era develop a distinct atmosphere while supporting the overarching theme of traveling through time.

The soundtrack also reached audiences beyond the gaming community when Canadian figure skater Kevin Reynolds incorporated a medley of Chrono Trigger music into his short program during the 2011–2012 competitive season.

“CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert Melodies Beyond Time -Live Recording-” preserves the performance presented at Tokyo International Forum Hall A in January 2026 during the dedicated Chrono Trigger orchestral concert event.

Collectors who purchase the album early through Amazon will receive a special bonus oversized jacket featuring artwork inspired by the game, although availability is limited and will end once allocated stock has been exhausted.

The release also serves as another reminder of the historic partnership that brought Chrono Trigger to life, uniting creators from the then-rival Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy franchises for a project that would go on to become one of the most celebrated RPGs in gaming history.
