Sold out “HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX” Gunpla kit gets a re-release
The sold out “HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX” Gunpla model kit, based on the namesake Gundam from the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX series, is due to be re-released.
This offers fans another opportunity to acquire the model kit after the initial release in January 2025 sold out.
The Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, which celebrates its 45th anniversary this year, continues to expand its universe with new animated series like Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.
The launch of new Gunpla models from series as they are being broadcast is a part of Bandai Spirits’ strategy to keep fans engaged by allowing them to physically collect and build the Mobile Suits they see in the latest episodes.
This stands in contrast to many anime series where merchandise is only produced after it has finished airing and producers are certain of its popularity.
The “High Grade (HG)” line of Gunpla kits is particularly popular for its balanced approach to ease of assembly while retaining a good level of articulation and detail.
The “HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX” kit is designed to capture the dynamic capabilities of the Gundam and features excellent articulation, particularly in the torso and hip joints, allowing for a wide range of dynamic action poses.
The backpack also offers flexible movement, enabling expressive posing from various angles, reflecting the Mobile Suit’s agility in combat.
The kit also includes interchangeable head parts, allowing builders to recreate the GQuuuuuuX with its antennas in a closed position, a detail that can add to its varied appearance.
A wide variety of weapons are included to enhance display options and recreate battle scenes.
These include the iconic Tomenosuke Heat Hawk, a beam rifle and a shield.
A stand-out feature is the ability to recreate the “Core Fighter Form” of the GQuuuuuuX, a transformation/separation seen in episode 9 of the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX TV anime.
This functionality adds significant display versatility, allowing fans to showcase a pivotal moment from the series.
The “HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX” Gunpla model kit is priced at 2,200 yen (approx. $15.40 USD / £11.35 GBP), with the re-release expected to begin today, 4th June, through Premium Bandai.
While the exact sales start time on Premium Bandai has not been confirmed, sales of new items or re-stocks typically start between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM JST each day.
Prospective buyers are advised to regularly check the Premium Bandai product page to ensure they can secure their kit.
This re-release has been announced shortly after a wider range of products based on “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX” have been announced, including CONVERGE mini-figures, a Red Gundam prize figure and Gunpla kits including the White Gundam and Zaku as well as the Gelgoog.
