Seiko Unveils New RX-7 Inspired Initial D Collab Watch

Seiko has teamed up with legendary street racing manga Initial D for a new limited-edition watch inspired by Keisuke Takahashi and his unmistakable yellow Mazda RX-7 FD3S.
Created by Shuichi Shigeno, Initial D follows tofu delivery driver Takumi Fujiwara as his unexpected skill behind the wheel draws him into Japan’s underground mountain racing scene, with its detailed portrayal of real cars helping the series become a global influence on automotive culture.

Keisuke is one of the story’s most prominent racers and a leading member of the Akagi RedSuns, piloting a bright yellow third-generation Mazda RX-7 that reflects his aggressive driving style and determination to become faster.

The Initial D x Seiko Keisuke Takahashi RX-7 FD3S Model carries that distinctive color scheme onto its dial, pairing vivid yellow with a black bezel for a sporty contrast inspired by the car’s exterior.

Three sub-dials recreate the appearance of the RX-7’s red-illuminated instrument cluster, while a subtle Initial D logo appears inside the display positioned at six o’clock.

The index at 12 o’clock takes its shape from the triangular rotor found inside the RX-7’s rotary engine, adding a mechanical reference that fans of the car should immediately recognize.

Seiko’s logo appears near the three o’clock position alongside the RedSuns team emblem, giving the dial another direct link to Keisuke and his role within the series.

The chronograph includes stopwatch and calendar functions, combining its Initial D styling with practical features suited to everyday use.

Production is limited to 1,995 watches in recognition of the year Initial D began serialization, with an individual edition number between 1 and 1,995 engraved onto the back of each case.

The watch arrives inside a bright yellow presentation box decorated with the Initial D title and RedSuns logos, while the inside of the lid features color artwork of Keisuke standing alongside his RX-7.

This is not the only recent watch collection celebrating Initial D, as ANGEL CLOVER has also released several 30th-anniversary models inspired by cars driven by Takumi, Keisuke, Ryosuke, Mako and Sayuki as well as Bunta.

Its latest additions include the collection’s first automatic mechanical watches, revisiting Takumi’s Toyota AE86 and Bunta’s Subaru Impreza with skeleton dials and design details inspired by their respective cars.

The Initial D x Seiko Keisuke Takahashi RX-7 FD3S Model is priced at ¥65,780 (approx. $421 USD / £312 GBP) and is available to order through the PREMICO online store.

Orders opened on August 3, 2026, with deliveries currently scheduled to begin from late January 2027.
