Initial D’s 30th Anniversary Watch Collab Collection Returns with New Takumi and Bunta Designs
ANGEL CLOVER has unveiled two new releases for their official Initial D 30th Anniversary watch collection, introducing the series’ first automatic mechanical watches inspired by Takumi Fujiwara and his father, Bunta Fujiwara.
Initial D is Shuichi Shigeno’s legendary street racing manga, following high school student Takumi Fujiwara as he unknowingly develops extraordinary driving skills while making early morning deliveries in his father’s Toyota AE86 before becoming one of Japan’s most respected downhill racers.
The anniversary collection has launched in stages across late 2025 and early 2026, with the release of five quartz-powered watches inspired by Takumi’s Toyota AE86, Ryosuke Takahashi’s Mazda RX-7 (FC3S), Keisuke Takahashi’s Mazda RX-7 (FD3S), Mako Sato and Sayuki’s Nissan SilEighty, and Bunta Fujiwara’s Subaru Impreza WRX (GC8) Type R STi, each incorporating styling cues taken directly from the featured vehicles.
To close out the anniversary year, ANGEL CLOVER has revisited two of the collection’s most iconic cars with its first automatic movement models, pairing Takumi’s AE86 with Bunta’s Impreza to reflect the father-and-son relationship that sits at the heart of the series.
Unlike the earlier quartz-powered releases, these watches feature automatic mechanical movements that wind through the wearer’s natural wrist movement, while skeleton dials reveal the intricate movement beneath in a way that evokes the constant motion of a high-performance engine.
The Takumi Fujiwara Toyota AE86 Automatic Model, priced at ¥53,900 (approx. $365 USD / £270 GBP), recreates the legendary Hachi-Roku with a carbon fiber bezel inspired by the car’s hood, an “86” marker at the 12 o’clock position, and gauge-inspired sub-dials modeled after the vehicle’s instrument cluster.
The Bunta Fujiwara Subaru Impreza WRX (GC8) Type R STi Automatic Model, priced at ¥49,500 (approx. $335 USD / £248 GBP), features a polished stainless steel bezel, an “8” marker at the 12 o’clock position, and matching gauge-inspired sub-dials that pay tribute to the performance icon driven by Takumi’s father.
Both watches feature leather and silicone straps, stainless steel cases, skeleton dials, mineral glass, 10 ATM water resistance, and engraved case backs displaying the Initial D 30th Anniversary logo alongside a wheel-inspired motif.
Each watch also includes an exclusive commemorative coin keychain featuring the Initial D 30th Anniversary logo as a special purchase bonus.
Both models are available through the ANGEL CLOVER official online store and authorized watch retailers across Japan.
