Sanrio's Junji Ito Collab Returns With A Brand New Hello Kitty x Tomie Release

Popular figure manufacturer Good Smile Company has unveiled a new statue based on the “Gyaru Tomie x Hello Kitty” design from the crossover between Sanrio and Junji Ito.

Tomie remains one of the most recognizable creations from the horror author, depicting an immortal and alluring girl who drives people to madness.

Hello Kitty is the most iconic of all of Sanrio’s adorable mascots, recognized worldwide for her simple, appealing design and signature hair bow.

By combining these two drastically different franchises, the collaboration offers fans a unique visual experience that merges terrifying themes with cute aesthetics.

The design for this new statue is directly based on promotional artwork and merchandise that has been heavily featured at various pop-up stores over quite some time.

A painted prototype for the new statue officially appeared during the recent Good Smile Fest 2026 event, offering fans a first look at what is sure to be one of the most sought after items based on the collaboration to date.

While Hello Kitty does not make a direct physical appearance on the statue, Tomie is depicted wearing a wide variety of clothing and accessories referencing her.

She has a red bow tied in her hair, along with matching red bows on her socks, mobile phone, and handbag.

Tomie also has a Hello Kitty charm attached to her phone, another attached to her bag, and customized stickers decorating both her bag and earrings.

The statue uses a greyscale color palette with pops of red, with this style often being utilized across figure representations of Junji Ito’s as a way to mimic the original manga artwork.

The same monochrome style was previously utilized for the Tomie Nendoroid and the prototype photo also reveals that the new Gyaru Tomie x Hello Kitty statue’s base/stand will be shaped to resemble Hello Kitty’s iconic hair bow.

The Gyaru Tomie x Hello Kitty figure is currently in active development, and while a finalized release date has not been officially confirmed at this time, the advanced painted prototype stage indicates that pre-orders should open within the next few weeks.
