Sanrio releases special My Melody and Kuromi anniversary chocolates

Sanrio is releasing two new adorably cute confectionery items featuring My Melody and Kuromi.
These products arrive as My Melody marks her 50th anniversary and Kuromi celebrates her 20th anniversary in 2025.

Celebrations for these milestone anniversaries have been ongoing for some time, with My Melody getting her own 50th anniversary watch collaboration with Seiko and a range of bags and accessories based on both Kuromi and My Melody released by fashion brand JILL STUART.

My Melody, introduced in 1975, is known for her cheerful demeanor and pink hood, while Kuromi, My Melody’s rival introduced in 2005, is recognized for her mischievous personality and black hood.
Their contrasting yet complementary designs have made them enduring figures within Sanrio’s extensive character lineup.

Limited-edition packaging has been created for the new treats, which is designed to appeal to fans who collect merchandise related to either character.
The two types of My Melody and Kuromi themed chocolates that will be available are:
- My Melody x Kuromi Chocolate

This product features stick chocolates that use three different colors to create 3D representations of My Melody and Kuromi’s faces.

The packaging comes in three special designs, commemorating both My Melody’s 50th and Kuromi’s 20th anniversaries.

Notably, the packaging also includes the 75th-anniversary logo for Peko-chan, in a cute crossover design.
Each package contains 20g (2 sticks) of chocolate.
- My Melody x Kuromi Crunchy Choco Pouch

This chocolate snack offers a unique texture, consisting of a crumbly, milk-flavored dough coated in chocolate and sprinkled with crunchy black cocoa biscuits.

The soft texture inside is meant to evoke My Melody’s gentle nature, while the crunchy exterior represents Kuromi’s contrasting personality.

The pouches feature two different package designs showcasing both characters and each pouch contains 34g of chocolate.
Both products are scheduled for release at convenience stores and general stores/supermarkets across Japan on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025, and will be sold at an open retail price, meaning that prices may vary from store to store.
