Sanrio celebrates 5 years of Hapidanbui with special anniversary merch range
A new line of original merchandise is being released to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the popular Sanrio character unit, Hapidanbui.
Hapidanbui is a group consisting of six of Sanrio’s classic “boy” characters from the 80s and 90s: Pochacco, Tuxedosam, Keroppi, Badtz-Maru, Hangyodon, and Pekkle.
The group are so popular that they have recently been included in a special collaboration of merchandise with the anime series and mobile game Uma Musume.
This new “Everyone Gathered Design Series” celebrates the unit’s anniversary, which was in January of this year.
The key design for the collection features the six characters wearing matching hoodies, with a special charm and tag design that shows them in a friendly huddle.
The product lineup features a variety of plush toys, accessories, and other goods.
The full collection includes:
- 1. Mascot Holders (6 varieties): ¥1,980 each
- 2. Mini-Backpack Shaped Pouches (6 varieties): ¥1,980 each
- 3. Tote Bag: ¥2,497
- 4. Pouch: ¥1,793
- 5. Acrylic Stand with Clip: ¥1,595
- 6. Sticker Set: ¥550
- 7. Secret Pins (8 random varieties): ¥792 each
In addition to the main merchandise line, a special, exclusive item will be made available for members of the “Sanrio+” loyalty program.
Members will be able to exchange 2,800 of their “smile” points for a special, large 5th-anniversary can badge.
The release of the new collection will be staggered over several days.
An early launch will be held at the Sanrio NISHIGINZA store on Tuesday, the 26th of August.
This will be followed by the main nationwide launch at most Sanrio stores, department store counters, and the official Sanrio online shop on Wednesday, the 27th of August.
A final release for a select number of other stores is scheduled for Thursday, the 28th of August.
Due to the high demand expected for this anniversary collection, strict purchase limits will be in place for the first week of the launch, with items restricted to 1 per character, per person.
The “secret pins” will be limited to a quantity of 8 (1 full box) per person.
