Samantha Vega unveils special My Melody and Kuromi anniversary collection
Samantha Thavasa Japan has announced a special collaboration collection from its SAMANTHAVEGA brand, featuring Sanrio characters My Melody and Kuromi.
This release celebrates the characters’ respective anniversary years, offering a range of bags, wallets, and charms designed to embody their unique styles.
Samantha Vega is a brand under the Samantha Thavasa group, known for its trendy and youthful accessories, often incorporating playful designs and collaborating with popular characters and media franchises.
Samantha Thavasa regularly collaborates with Sanrio, with a previous range of My Melody themed items being sold under its Samantha Thavasa Petit Choice brand.
My Melody and Kuromi, created by Sanrio, are two of its most iconic characters.
My Melody, a pink-hooded rabbit, represents sweetness and innocence, while Kuromi, My Melody’s rival, embodies a punk-goth aesthetic with a mischievous yet charming personality.
Both characters maintain a significant global fanbase, particularly in Asia, and the pair are set to get their own Netflix series this July.
The new SAMANATHAVEGA collection, created under the concept “GIRL, Lady It’s me – Live your moment to the fullest, your way, with Samantha Vega,” integrates My Melody and Kuromi’s motifs and color palettes into each item.

- Vanity Bags (¥19,800)
These rounded, cute vanity-style bags are crafted from glossy, velvet-like material with heart patterns.
The My Melody version features pink and pink-gold hardware, while the Kuromi version uses black and purple.
Both include a detachable heart-shaped pouch with special “Black Femi Coordinate” artwork of the characters.
The interior lining of the bags features exclusive anniversary artwork of My Melody and Kuromi.
- Frill Handbags (¥24,200)
A popular Samantha Vega frill bag design is updated with My Melody and Kuromi’s signature colors and motifs.
These combine a cute frilled design with elegant velvet, offering a sophisticated yet playful look. Each bag comes with a detachable shoulder strap for two-way use.
- Backpacks (¥25,300)
These compact and cute backpacks from the same series feature a rounded silhouette. They are designed for functionality with a zippered front pocket and side pockets.
- Folding Wallets (¥16,280)
These slim wallets feature heart-shaped dot patterns and the “Black Femi Coordinate” artwork of My Melody and Kuromi on the front.
Upon opening, exclusive anniversary artwork for My Melody and Kuromi is revealed, making it a limited-time design.
The wallets offer eight card slots inside and one on the back, designed to be thin enough to complement the matching bags.
- Bag Charms (¥5,500)
Heart-shaped plate charms featuring each character’s artwork.
The chain is adorned with ribbons, hearts, and bijoux, creating a noticeable and decorative accessory for bags.
- Zipper Charms (¥4,950)
Small yet impactful zipper pulls designed for bags, pouches, or wallets.
They feature a metal plate with character artwork beneath a heart-shaped crystal, adding an elegant accent with movement.
The Samantha Vega “My Melody & Kuromi Collection” will be available for early pre-order on the Samantha Vega official online shop starting Wednesday, June 25th.
The full collection will then launch across national Samantha Vega retail stores on Tuesday, July 1st.
