Real-life Squid Game experience to open in Tokyo in January 2026
“Shibuya Real Squid Game,” an immersive, interactive experience based on the Emmy-winning, global phenomenon Netflix series Squid Game, will open in Tokyo on Friday, January 16, 2026.
The attraction will be located on the entire third floor of the Tokyu Plaza Shibuya building within the Shibuya Fukuras complex.
Following successful launches in New York, Madrid, and Seoul, the Tokyo version will allow up to 20 participants at a time to experience the unique and thrilling world of the hit survival series.
Tokyu Land Corporation acquired the event rights from Netflix and will operate the attraction as a joint venture with KX Korea Inc. and Dentsu Music and Entertainment Inc.
Squid Game is a survival thriller exclusively on Netflix and stands as the platform’s biggest mega-hit series of all time.
The series concluded with its third season, which premiered in June 2025, set a new record by reaching the top 10 in 93 countries and regions and amassing 60 million views in its first week.
The “Shibuya Real Squid Game” Experience
The attraction is designed to make participants feel as though they have stepped directly into the world of Squid Game.
Upon entry, players will register by scanning their faces and will then compete in a series of six games featured in the show, including “Red Light, Green Light,” “Tug of War,” and “Marbles.”
The entire experience is expected to last approximately 90 minutes, at the end of which a single winner will be determined.
The event is designed to be enjoyable even for those who have not seen the series.
In addition to the main games, the venue will feature “Younghee’s Playground,” which includes a collaborative café, photo zones with special commemorative frames, and a retail store where visitors can purchase official Squid Game merchandise.
The event will be held at Shibuya Fukuras, a major gateway to the city that houses an airport limousine bus terminal and the “shibuya-san” tourist information center, making it a hub for both domestic and international visitors.
This collaboration with Netflix aims to create a major destination attraction that enhances the experiential value of the wider Shibuya area.
