Pre-orders start as Wing Gundam gets new high-end figure for Gundam Wing’s 30th anniversary
Pre-orders are set to open for a new, high-end action figure of the Wing Gundam from the classic anime series Mobile Suit Gundam Wing.
The new product is part of the METAL ROBOT Spirits line from Bandai Spirits, with this release coming as part of the ongoing celebration of the 30th anniversary of the influential 1995 anime series.
A number of other events are being held to celebrate the milestone anniversary, including a special event at San Diego Comic Con.
The METAL ROBOT Spirits brand is a popular line of collector-focused figures, known for its use of die-cast metal parts, sharp sculpting, and a high degree of articulation.
This new figure is a faithful recreation of the Wing Gundam as it appeared in the original television series.
The paint application has been specifically designed to evoke the look of the cel animation used in the 1990s, giving it a nostalgic feel.
The figure, which stands at approximately 140 millimeters tall, includes a number of special features.
It incorporates an original slide gimmick in the tips of its wings, which allows for more dynamic action posing.
The model also fully supports the mobile suit’s iconic transformation into its high-speed “Bird Mode.”
A full set of accessories is included with the figure, which will include its primary weapon, the powerful Buster Rifle, a shield that can store the beam saber hilt inside, and a set of dynamic, slashing effect parts for the beam saber.
The “METAL ROBOT Spirits Wing Gundam” has been announced at the same time as an S.H.Figuarts figure of Heero Yuy, allowing fans to order both and display them together.
In addition to the main product announcement, a teaser for a future release was also revealed.
The product page for the Wing Gundam includes a silhouette of its primary rival mobile suit, the Tallgeese, strongly suggesting that it will be the next release in the Gundam Wing METAL ROBOT Spirits line.
Pre-orders for the figure are scheduled to open on Premium Bandai on Friday, the 25th of July, at 4:00 PM Japan Standard Time.
The “METAL ROBOT Spirits Wing Gundam” is priced at 19,800 yen (approx. $134 USD / £99 GBP) and the figure is scheduled to be shipped to customers in January 2026.
