Pre-Orders Open for New Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary Bumblebee Figure
threezero is marking the 40th anniversary of Transformers: The Movie with a new MDLX release based on Bumblebee’s appearance in the popular 1986 animated film.
Released in 1986, Transformers: The Movie expanded the world established by the original animated series, introducing new Autobots and Decepticons while delivering some of the franchise’s most memorable moments that continue to influence Transformers media decades later.
Bumblebee was one of the first Autobots introduced when the original Transformers animated series debuted in 1984, with the small but courageous scout quickly becoming one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters thanks to his loyal personality and his disguise as a yellow Volkswagen Beetle.
Standing approximately 12 cm tall, the new MDLX Bumblebee (1986 Movie Edition) builds upon threezero Art Director Kelvin Sau’s earlier reinterpretation of the character while incorporating updates that more closely reflect Bumblebee’s appearance in the animated movie.
The figure combines a die-cast zinc alloy internal frame with engineering-grade plastic components, while the exterior balances the clean aesthetic of the original animation with additional mechanical detailing that enhances its premium presentation.
Its paintwork has been carefully matched to the vibrant colors seen in Transformers: The Movie, including the all-yellow rear wheels that accurately recreate Bumblebee’s on-screen appearance from the film.
With 36 points of articulation, the figure is designed for a wide range of dynamic poses and includes a standard head sculpt, a battle mask head sculpt, three pairs of interchangeable hands and Bumblebee’s laser gun.
Collectors will also receive an exclusive character card illustrated by renowned anime artist Nobuyoshi Habara, adding an extra display piece to the release.
The figure has also been designed to display alongside the recently revealed MDLX Optimus Prime and MDLX Megatron, allowing fans to recreate some of the film’s most iconic scenes.
“Transformers MDLX Bumblebee (1986 Movie Edition)” is priced at $69.90 USD and is now available to pre-order through threezero and select other reputable collectible retailers.
The figure is currently scheduled for release during the fourth quarter of 2026.
