Pokémon Unveils New $10,000 Solid Gold Gholdengo 30th Anniversary Figure
Image by Charlotte DavisPokémon is celebrating its 30th anniversary with one of its most extravagant figures yet, recreating Gholdengo in solid gold for a special exhibition in Japan.
The new “K24 Gholdengo” will make its debut at the Yokohama Great Gold Exhibition, where the Generation IX Pokémon will also appear as a life-size gold-leaf statue alongside a separate golden Pikachu display.
Gholdengo was introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet as the evolution of Gimmighoul and holds a special place in the series as Pokémon #1000 in the National Pokédex.
Its entire design is built around gold and coins, making it a natural choice for the exhibition, while its “Good as Gold” Ability also provides a direct connection with the material used for the new figure.
The Pokédex describes Gholdengo’s body as being made from 1,000 coins, while the Pokémon’s golden body protects it from status moves through its signature Ability.
For the new figure, Gholdengo has been recreated using K24 pure gold, with the finished piece weighing approximately 15g and standing around 6cm tall.
The solid-gold Gholdengo is expected to sell for ¥1,540,000 (approximately $9,800 / £7,300), although its final price may change depending on movements in the gold market.
The figure arrives during Pokémon’s 30th anniversary year, which has already produced a large number of commemorative releases covering the franchise’s games, trading cards and merchandise.

Image by Charlotte DavisThe Pokémon TCG has also celebrated the anniversary with its “30th Celebration” expansion, which introduced new cards, commemorative reprints and 30 different Pikachu cards created specifically for the milestone.
Gholdengo itself has appeared in the anniversary TCG celebrations as well, receiving an Illustration Rare card showing the Pokémon dancing beneath neon lights as part of the expansion’s nighttime artwork collection.
The Great Gold Exhibition will also feature a much larger tribute to Gholdengo in the form of a life-size gold-leaf statue.
Standing approximately 120cm tall, the display uses around 730 sheets of gold leaf to recreate Gholdengo at its full in-game height, with its entire body covered in a reflective golden finish.
Pikachu will receive its own life-size gold-leaf display at the event, using approximately 200 sheets of gold leaf for a statue measuring around 40cm tall, or roughly 50cm when its ears are included.
Unlike the K24 Gholdengo figure, the two life-size Pokémon statues are being presented as special exhibition pieces rather than products available for purchase.
The Yokohama Great Gold Exhibition will take place at Yokohama Takashimaya’s eighth-floor event space from September 30 through October 5, 2026, with the solid-gold Gholdengo available for purchase during the event while stocks last.
