Japan’s Pokémon hotel rooms get major renovation and expand to more cities

Japanese hotel chain “MIMARU” has announced the renovation and expansion of its popular “Pokémon Rooms”.
These Pokémon-themed accommodations have been popular with both domestic and international visitors since their introduction in 2019, and they are now undergoing a major evolution to offer an even more immersive and delightful experience for Pokémon fans of all ages.

The “Pokémon Room” concept aims to transport guests directly into the world of Pokémon.
Unlike traditional hotel rooms, MIMARU’s apartment-style accommodations feature spacious layouts often equipped with kitchens and dining areas, making them ideal for families and groups.

The original Pokémon Rooms gained immense popularity for their creative integration of Pokémon elements into the decor, creating a playful and comfortable environment.
With this major renovation, MIMARU is expanding the reach of its Pokémon Rooms to a total of 10 facilities across Japan’s major tourist cities: Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.

This expansion includes newly established locations such as MIMARU TOKYO KINSHICHO and MIMARU TOKYO IKEBUKURO, making the unique experience more accessible to travelers.
The core themes guiding this renewal are “more Pokémon” and “more fun for the whole family”.

One of the most exciting updates is the sheer abundance of Pokémon integrated into the room designs.
Guests will now find approximately 100 different Pokémon adorning every corner of the space, including the bathrooms and kitchens.

The comprehensive redesign aims to create an environment where it feels as though Pokémon have literally “jumped out of their Pokéballs” and are residing alongside the guests.
The bathrooms have been transformed into a relaxing aquatic haven where various Water-type Pokémon gather.

The kitchen areas have been designed as a fun, gastronomic zone, celebrating Pokémon known for their love of eating, offering a playful backdrop for preparing meals using the room’s kitchen facilities.

The iconic, giant Snorlax plush toy, a fan favorite since the rooms’ inception, will remain a central fixture on the bed, providing a comforting presence and a highly photogenic memory for guests.
This large plush has become a symbolic element of the Pokémon Room experience, inviting cuddles and unique photo opportunities.

The standard Pokémon Rooms will continue to offer spacious accommodations capable of hosting up to four people.
A new room type featuring bunk beds has also been introduced, making these rooms an even more attractive option for family holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.
To further enrich the guest experience, MIMARU has created a range of new items specifically for the Pokémon Rooms.

These include a Pokémon Room original dining table, Pokéball-designed tableware (plates and mugs), and special design sheets, ensuring that even meal times are integrated into the Pokémon theme.
Guests staying in the newly renovated Pokémon Rooms will also receive exclusive items as a special gift.

This benefits package includes a set of four practical and collectible items: a laundry bag (convenient for organizing travel laundry), a drawstring pouch (perfect for small items), a flat pouch (for organizing luggage), and a Pokémon Room exclusive design sticker.
The participating MIMARU facilities offering the renewed Pokémon Rooms are strategically located in key tourist areas, providing convenient access to attractions in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.
