Pikmin x JR Kyushu collab ends with tapioca drinks and a festival at Hakata Station

Fukuoka’s Hakata Station is set to serve as the location for the grand finale of the “PIKMIN x JR Kyushu ~ Explore the Fascinating Planet Kyushu ~” collaboration.
The “Pikmin Festa in Fukuoka” event will feature an exclusive range of Pikmin-themed tapioca drinks from JR Kyushu Food Services’ “Amatoya” sweets shops, complete with original bonus stickers.

The “PIKMIN x JR Kyushu ~ Explore the Fascinating Planet Kyushu ~” project, which commenced in December 2024 and runs until June 30th, 2025, has been a wide-ranging collaboration between Nintendo’s Pikmin franchise and JR Kyushu, the primary railway company serving Japan’s Kyushu island.

The initiative aimed to encourage exploration of Kyushu by integrating Pikmin elements into various aspects of the local travel experience.
It has included Pikmin themed buses and bus stations, Pikmin-wrapped trains, Pikmin-themed stations across seven prefectures, digital stamp rallies, and “Pikmin Festa” pop-up events at station plazas in key cities like Oita, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Miyazaki and Fukuoka.

The project has been a significant undertaking, using the charm of the Pikmin games to promote local tourism while offering fans unique merchandise and engaging activities throughout the region.

Amatoya, a chain of sweets shops operated by JR Kyushu Food Services, is known for its selection of Japanese and Western-style confections, and they are often found in or near JR Kyushu stations.
For this special collaboration, Amatoya will offer two uniquely designed Pikmin tapioca drinks:
- Pikmin Amaou Strawberry Milk Tapioca: Priced at 700 yen (tax included). This flavor likely utilizes Amaou strawberries, known for their large size, rich sweetness, and vivid color, creating a delightful regional tie-in.

- Pikmin Tapioca Milk Tea: Priced at 600 yen (tax included). A classic tapioca drink with a Pikmin twist.

Each purchase of a collaboration drink will entitle customers to one of three original “Pikmin x Sweets Shop” stickers, chosen at random.

While the primary sales point for these drinks will be the “Pikmin Festa in Fukuoka” pop-up event at JR Hakata Station Square on May 31st and June 1st, JR Kyushu Food Services has also confirmed that the same limited-edition beverages will be available at two permanent Amatoya locations: Yoshizuka Amatoya and Meinohama Amatoya.
This extended availability will run from Saturday, May 31st, to Monday, June 30th, 2025, or until supplies last, as quantities are limited.
The “Pikmin Festa in Fukuoka” event itself promises a variety of other Pikmin-related activities in addition to the tapioca drinks.
This special event will take place at JR Hakata Station Square on Saturday, May 31st, and Sunday, June 1st, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM JST each day.

Previous “Pikmin Festa” events across Kyushu have featured pop-up stores selling official Nintendo Pikmin merchandise and unique “PIKMIN x JR Kyushu” original goods, digital stamp rally check-ins, and themed photo opportunities.

It is expected that “Pikmin Festa in Fukuoka” will feature the same merchandise and events as those held in other locations.
If you’re in Fukuoka during the 31st May and 1st June, make sure you head down to Hakata Station to take part in the Pikmin themed fun!
