Orders Open as Gundam Wing G-UNIT’s Hydra Gundam Returns as a Modern HG Gunpla Kit

Bandai has officially unveiled the next addition to its ever-expanding High Grade Gunpla lineup, with the formidable Hydra Gundam from Gundam Wing DUAL STORY G-UNIT making its long-awaited debut as a completely new 1/144 scale model kit.
The latest release brings one of the side story’s most technologically advanced mobile suits into the modern HG range, combining an all-new sculpt with updated articulation, intricate mechanical detail and an impressive transformation system.

Gundam Wing DUAL STORY G-UNIT expands the world of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing through an official side story that introduces new characters, mobile suits and battles taking place alongside the events of the original anime.

The OZ-15AGX Hydra Gundam is piloted by Valder Farkill, the leader of OZ Prize, a commander feared across the battlefield as the “Dark Destroyer General.”

Named after Hydra, the largest of the 88 modern constellations, the mobile suit was originally developed to eliminate the five Gundams deployed during Operation Meteor.

In addition to its exceptional overall performance, the Hydra Gundam is equipped with powerful weapons including the devastating Buster Cannon and the ability to transform into a high-speed Mobile Armor configuration.

The machine also holds a unique place in the Gundam Wing universe as the first mobile suit in the series to utilize psycommu weapon technology, allowing its Wired Shoulder Claws to attack enemies remotely through thought control using sensors distributed throughout the body.

For this HG release, Bandai has faithfully recreated mechanical designer Junichi Akutsu’s latest interpretation of the Hydra Gundam with an entirely new mold that showcases modern color separation techniques and high-density mechanical detailing.

One of the kit’s most distinctive features is its unusual head design, presenting a traditional Gundam face from the front while resembling a Gelgoog from the side and a Zeong from the rear.

The model incorporates current-generation High Grade engineering throughout its joints, including linked knee mechanisms that allow for a wide range of dynamic action poses.

Its pair of large mechanical arms mounted on the backpack feature multiple articulation points, allowing them to rotate freely into a variety of dramatic display positions.

The included weapon loadout consists of a newly designed Buster Cannon that mounts to the right shoulder, four Beam Sabers that can be equipped by both the main arms and mechanical arms simultaneously, and an EMF Shield featuring a newly developed deployment gimmick.

The Hydra Gundam can also transform into its high-mobility Mobile Armor mode using a newly engineered transformation system that consolidates the legs and waist into a distinctive silhouette reminiscent of the Zeong.

The Wired Shoulder Claws can be displayed in their remote attack configuration by attaching the included mono-filament wires, recreating their signature psycommu-controlled firing mode.

Pre-orders for the HG 1/144 Hydra Gundam, priced at ¥5,500 (approx. $37 USD / £28 GBP), are now open via Premium Bandai, with shipping set for November 2026.
