Nostalgic model kit of Martian Successor Nadesico’s Black Sarena gets a re-release

Good Smile Company has re-opened pre-orders for its popular “MODEROID” plastic model kit of the iconic mecha “Black Sarena”, from the animated film Martian Successor Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness.
This re-release offers fans another opportunity to acquire the sought-after and intricately designed model kit.

MODEROID is a line of model kits known for its wide variety of mecha from numerous different anime series.

The Black Sarena is the signature machine of the film’s protagonist, Akito Tenkawa, a heavily armored, high-mobility unit that is built as a shell around his original Aestivalis Custom.

A key feature of this model kit is that it faithfully recreates this unique structure.

The kit allows the builder to assemble both the inner Aestivalis Custom and the full, imposing Black Sarena armor, and the completed Aestivalis can be encased within the armor without the need for part swapping.

A special “dummy frame” is also included, which allows the builder to display both the complete Black Sarena and the inner Aestivalis unit side-by-side simultaneously.

The kit includes a variety of other features and accessories, such as two hand cannons that can be stored in the shoulder binders and parts to recreate the “Distortion Punch” attack.

An exclusive bonus item is also being offered for customers who pre-order the kit directly from the official Good Smile Company online shop.
Those who purchase from the official store will receive a special set of “optional damaged armor parts” as a gift.

The “MODEROID Black Sarena” is priced at ¥9,800 (approx. $67 USD/£49 GBP).
Pre-orders for this re-release began on Tuesday, the 26th of August via the official Good Smile Company online store, and will remain open until the 24th of September, 2025.
The kit is scheduled to be shipped to customers in February 2026.
