Nintendo announces fourth official store in Japan will open in Fukuoka

Nintendo has announced its plans to expand its chain of retail stores in Japan with the upcoming launch of “Nintendo FUKUOKA”.
The new store is planned to open before the end of 2025 and will be located within the AMU Plaza Hakata shopping center located next to Fukuoka’s major transportation hub, JR Hakata Station.

This will mark Nintendo’s fourth official store in Japan, joining the existing locations in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.
Nintendo has been a driving force in the entertainment industry since the release of the groundbreaking Family Computer (Famicom) in 1983.

Over the decades, Nintendo has created some of the most iconic and beloved video game franchises in history, including Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Pikmin and Splatoon.
Nintendo’s official stores serve as spaces for fans to immerse themselves in the world of Nintendo and all of the company’s popular series.

These retail locations offer a wide array of products, including the company’s latest game consoles and software, as well as a selection of exclusive character merchandise, ranging from plush toys and apparel to stationery and home goods.
The existing Nintendo stores, starting with the opening of the flagship “Nintendo TOKYO” in the Shibuya PARCO complex in November 2019, followed by “Nintendo OSAKA” in Daimaru Umeda in November 2022 and “Nintendo KYOTO” in Kyoto Takashimaya in October 2023.

The stores have become popular destinations for Nintendo enthusiasts, offering unique shopping experiences and opportunities to connect with the brand.
The selection of AMU Plaza Hakata as the location for “Nintendo FUKUOKA” is particularly noteworthy as the same building previously housed Nintendo’s official Pokémon Center Fukuoka store.

Pokémon Center Fukuoka recently closed its doors in preparation for a relocation to a larger retail space within the nearby Hakata Marui department store.
At this time, it remains unclear whether the new “Nintendo FUKUOKA” store will occupy the same retail unit vacated by the former Pokémon Center Fukuoka, or if it will be situated in a different location within AMU Plaza Hakata.

Nintendo has encouraged fans to stay tuned for further official announcements regarding “Nintendo FUKUOKA” and have promised that more details will be shared in the future.
This news is sure to excite Nintendo fans in the Kyushu region and beyond, who will soon have a new destination to celebrate their favorite games and characters.
