Nintendo Announces 40th Anniversary Re-Release for Zelda’s Official Master Sword Replica

Nintendo and Bandai have jointly announced the return of an elaborate official Master Sword replica based on The Legend of Zelda, giving fans another chance to pick up one of the most ambitious recreations of Link’s iconic weapon.
The returning “The Legend of Zelda Master Sword PROPLICA” combines a detailed recreation of the legendary blade with interactive sound, music, and vibration features inspired by games from across the series.

The Master Sword has become one of the defining symbols of The Legend of Zelda, repeatedly appearing as Link’s legendary blade throughout adventures including Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom.

Bandai originally released the PROPLICA version in September 2024 as part of its premium prop-replica line, which recreates weapons and other recognizable items from games and anime as detailed display pieces with additional interactive features.

The sword uses metallic, pearl, and gradient finishes across its blade, hilt and other details, while a matching sheath is included to recreate its complete appearance outside battle.

Multiple sound effects associated with the Master Sword can be activated using buttons built into the hilt, with different commands triggering individual sounds from the Zelda series.

A vibration mechanism works alongside those effects and responds to different actions, adding physical feedback to the sounds produced by the replica.

The sword also contains eight pieces of music selected from across The Legend of Zelda series, covering games ranging from the original 1986 adventure through to Tears of the Kingdom.

Those tracks include music from The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past, Link’s Awakening, Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

The ABS replica measures approximately 105 cm from end to end, with its size and detailed finish making it intended primarily as a display model rather than a toy designed to be swung or carried outdoors.

A configurable display stand is included alongside the sheath, allowing the Master Sword and sheath to be displayed separately or with the blade stored inside.

The re-release arrives during The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary celebrations, which have also seen the Master Sword and Hylian Shield transformed into new premium Huzzle metal puzzle sets featuring both gold-plated and full-color designs, alongside HORI’s new official Ocarina accessory for Nintendo Switch 2 inspired by Ocarina of Time.

Nintendo has also announced a worldwide “The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Concert” tour for 2027, with orchestral performances of music from across the series scheduled for cities in Japan, North America, Europe and Australia.
