New Pokémon gummy candy challenges you to “fish” for water types

A popular interactive candy based on the Pokémon series has been revamped for a new release.
“Pokémon Fishing Gummy,” created by the manufacturer Bandai as part of their game and anime-themed “Bandai Candy” range, is based on the fishing aspect of the popular game series.

“Fishing Gummy” is a unique type of candy where the gummy itself is part of a small game.
The candy comes in a plastic tray, and the consumer must carefully pull on the gummy “line” to “fish” the Pokémon-shaped candy out of the tray without breaking it.

There are 3 different “difficulty levels” that see the line become more elaborate, making it harder to remove without snapping it.
This new version of the product features updated packaging and an expanded lineup of different tray designs.

The candy itself is a dual-flavored soda and muscat grape gummy, and the new lineup includes a total of twelve different Pokémon designs for consumers to find and “catch,” one of which is a “secret” rare design.
The eleven standard Pokémon in the collection are:
Level 1
- Magikarp
- Wailord
- Feebas

Level 2
- Octillery
- Whiscash
- Goldeen

Level 3
- Corphish
- Gyarados
- Corsola
- Dratini
- Psyduck

The renewed “Pokémon Fishing Gummy” is priced at ¥86 (approx. $0.59 USD/£0.43 GBP)
It is scheduled to be released at the candy sections of convenience stores and general goods/variety stores across Japan from Monday, the 25th of August, 2025.
