New highly-detailed Gundam Mk-II figure celebrates 40 years of Zeta Gundam

A new, special-edition action figure has been announced by Bandai Spirits to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the classic anime series, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
The “Robot Spirits <SIDE MS> RX-178 Gundam Mk-II (A.E.U.G. Colors) ver. A.N.I.M.E. -Z Gundam 40th Anniversary-” is being released as a commemorative item for the upcoming “TAMASHII NATION 2025” exhibition event.

The Gundam Mk-II is one of the primary hero mobile suits from the influential 1985 anime series.
This new figure is a special version of a previous release from the popular “Robot Spirits ver. A.N.I.M.E.” line, which is known for its high degree of articulation and faithfulness to the original animated designs.

The anniversary edition features several exclusive changes.
The figure’s body color has been updated with a less saturated, more subdued paint scheme, and a variety of new, realistic markings have been added across its armor.

The set also includes an original booklet and a special, dedicated 40th-anniversary display base.

A full set of the mobile suit’s standard armaments, including a beam rifle, a hyper bazooka, a shield, and an interchangeable antenna part, are also part of the package.

As a highly sought-after event exclusive, the figure will be sold through a complex, multi-phase lottery system.

The “ROBOT <SIDE MS> RX-178 Gundam Mk-II (A.E.U.G. Colors) ver. A.N.I.M.E. -Z Gundam 40th Anniversary-” is priced at ¥11,000 (approx. $75 USD/£56 GBP).

An initial, tiered pre-sale lottery will be held for “Club TAMASHII Members” starting on the 19th of August, 2025, followed by a general lottery for all customers, which is scheduled to run from the 3rd to the 7th of September, 2025.
A second, post-event lottery is also planned for November.
Full details of the lottery system can be found on the official TAMASHII NATIONS product page.
