New Gundam series gets its first Gunpla model kit a month before its manga debut

BANDAI SPIRITS has announced that pre-orders for the HG 1/144 Gundam Zilius plastic model kit will commence imminently.
The Gundam Zilius is the lead mobile suit from “Mobile Suit Gundam Eight”, a brand-new alternative series making its debut in Gundam Ace magazine this June.

This marks a significant development for the long-running Gundam franchise, which consistently expands its universe through new anime, manga, and model kit lines.
The HG (High Grade) line of Gunpla is celebrated for offering a balance of detail, articulation, and ease of assembly, making it a popular choice for both seasoned builders and newcomers.
The HG 1/144 Gundam Zilius model kit is designed to faithfully reproduce the mobile suit’s distinctive features and capabilities:
- Brand New Sculpt:

Its characteristic exterior armor and weaponry are entirely new molds, ensuring an accurate representation of the design from “Mobile Suit Gundam Eight.”

- Transformable Form

A key feature allows builders to remove exterior armor parts, enabling the recreation of the lightweight form of the Gundam Zilius. This offers versatility in display options.

- Enhanced Articulation

The kit boasts a design that harmonizes posability with ease of assembly, allowing for a wide range of dynamic action poses.

- Flexible Back Unit

The backpack unit features flexible articulation through a combination of shaft joints and ball joints, further enhancing posing possibilities and potentially allowing for dynamic aerial displays or weapon manipulation.

This release not only brings a new protagonist machine to the HG lineup but also heralds the beginning of a fresh story within the expansive Gundam universe.
The highly anticipated kit, priced at ¥2,970 (tax included), is scheduled for shipment in July 2025.
Pre-orders begin at 12:00 PM JST on May 26th, 2025 – demand is set to be high, so it’s advised to place your order as early as possible via the Premium Bandai product page.
Collectors and fans eager to build one of the latest Gundam mobile suits should secure their pre-orders promptly.
