New Gundam chocolate surprise eggs feature paintable mini figures
BANDAI has announced that the next addition to its popular chocolate capsule candy toy series will feature Gundam figures.
“Choco Sap Mobile Suit Gundam” will combine an edible “gashapon capsule” chocolate shell with highly detailed miniature figures.
The “Choco Sap” series is known for its familiar format, where a surprise figure is encased within a two-tone chocolate capsule, typically comprising both milk and white chocolate.
This concept mirrors the “surprise egg” format popular in various markets, offering both a sweet indulgence and a collectible toy.
The Mobile Suit Gundam is one of the longest running anime franchises in Japan and also one of the most popular.
The original Mobile Suit Gundam series introduced many iconic mobile suit designs that have become synonymous with both the franchise and with giant robot anime in general.
The “Choco Sap Mobile Suit Gundam” collection will feature an impressive lineup of 19 different types of mobile suits, including one secret variant.
This marks the largest line-up of figures in the history of the “Choco Sap” series.
Each figure has a compact size of approximately 45mm and is crafted from ABS plastic.
A notable feature of these figures is their “surfacer gray” color. In the world of plastic modeling, surfacer is a base coat applied before painting, giving models a uniform, unpainted look.
This choice of color allows the figures to stand on their own with a distinct, model-kit aesthetic, while also providing a perfect canvas for hobbyists who might wish to paint them with their own custom colors.
The figures are designed with dynamic poses to bring the action of Mobile Suit Gundam to a miniature scale.
The extensive line-up includes many of the most iconic Mobile Suits from the original series, representing both the Earth Federation and Zeon forces:

- Gundam (equipped with beam sabers)
- Gundam (equipped with Hyper Hammer)
- Gundam (equipped with beam rifle)
- Guncannon
- Guntank

- Principality of Zeon
- Old Zaku
- Zaku

There will also be a “secret” figure, adding an element of surprise and encouraging collectors to pursue the full set.
Fans can look forward to discovering which highly detailed mobile suit figure awaits them inside each chocolate capsule starting from July 2025.
Each “Choco Sap Mobile Suit Gundam” candy toy will contain 1 figure and will be priced at 385 yen (approx. $2.65 USD / £1.97 GBP).
