New FINAL FANTASY XIV Cookbook will feature recipes based on recent expansions
Square Enix has announced a highly anticipated follow-up to its successful culinary guide for the popular game Final Fantasy XIV.
“The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook Volume 2: The Culinarian’s Journey from Shadow to Shore” is set to include recipes inspired by areas introduced in the latest three expansions of the popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG).
The original “Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook: The Essential Culinarian Guide to Hydaelyn” was released in 2021 and quickly gained popularity among fans as it offered real-world recipes inspired by the diverse cuisine found within the game’s world.
The initial volume primarily drew its inspiration from the base game and its first two major expansions, Heavensward and Stormblood.
Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) has enjoyed immense critical and commercial success, especially after its re-launch as A Realm Reborn in 2013.
Its rich story, expansive world of Hydaelyn, and engaging gameplay have fostered a dedicated global community of players.
A unique aspect of FFXIV’s gameplay is its robust crafting system which includes the “Culinarian” job that allows players to prepare various in-game dishes that provide beneficial buffs.
The FFXIV cookbooks translate these virtual meals into real world recipes, allowing players to connect with the game’s world in a new and delicious way.
The second volume’s subtitle, “The Culinarian’s Journey from Shadow to Shore”, directly references the geographical and narrative progression of FFXIV’s more recent expansions.
This installment will delve into the meals and dishes featured in the following expansions:
- Shadowbringers: The critically acclaimed 2019 expansion that took players to the First, a parallel dimension.
- Endwalker: The 2021 expansion that concluded the long running Hydaelyn-Zodiark saga.
- Dawntrail: The most recent expansion which introduced players to the New World of Tural.
“The Culinarian’s Journey from Shadow to Shore” will feature a total of 70 recipes, each inspired by a meal found within these three expansions.
The cookbook promises to maintain the user-friendly format of its predecessor, offering step-by-step instructions and high-quality photographs to guide home cooks in recreating these fantastical dishes.
While the full recipe list remains under wraps, three specific meals have been confirmed so far:
- Alpine Breakfast
- Tacos de Carne Asada
- Pudding of Perseverance & Prominence
“The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook Volume 2” is set to enrich the FFXIV experience for fans, allowing them to literally taste the flavors of Hydaelyn’s most recently explored regions.
Pre-orders are currently open on the Square Enix Online Store where it is priced at $34.99.
The book is currently planned to launch in October 2025.
