McDonald’s Japan reveals new My Melody and Kuromi Happy Meal toys

A new “Happy Set,” or Happy Meal, promotion has been announced by McDonald’s Japan, this time in a collaboration with the popular Sanrio characters My Melody and Kuromi.
This will be one of the first major campaigns to be held under a strict new sales and purchase limit policy that has been implemented by the company.

These new rules are a direct response to the widespread chaos and scalping that occurred during a Pokémon card giveaway in August, an event which was so disruptive that it had to be halted on its first day and led to the cancellation of a planned One Piece card promotion.

To prevent a recurrence, McDonald’s Japan will now suspend all mobile and third-party delivery orders for Happy Sets on the launch day of a new campaign, restricting sales to in-person and drive-thru purchases only.

Additionally, a strict purchase limit of three Happy Sets per group will be enforced during the first and second weeks of high-demand promotions.
The new My Melody and Kuromi Happy Set campaign will include a lineup of five different, exclusive toys.
The new toys that can be collected are:
- A hair brush/comb
- A My Melody plush toy
- A Kuromi plush toy
- A plastic cutlery set
- An accessory case

For fans who don’t want to collect any of the toys listed, you will also be able to select a Cinammoroll themed activity book, which includes a sticker sheet.

In addition to the new Happy Set, a separate, but thematically linked, dessert is also being released.
A new “McFlurry My Melody & Kuromi Blueberry Yogurt Flavor” is being sold to celebrate the “matching anniversaries” of the two characters, My Melody’s 50th and Kuromi’s 20th.

This dessert features a mix of two blueberry sauces, a yogurt-flavored sauce, and crunchy cocoa cookies blended into soft serve ice cream.
The new “My Melody & Kuromi” Happy Set is scheduled to launch on Friday, the 12th of September, 2025.
The new McFlurry is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, the 17th of September, and will be priced at ¥320.
