McDonald’s Japan reveals new Dragon Quest collab burgers

McDonald’s Japan has officially announced the launch of its second collaboration with the Dragon Quest franchise.
This new campaign introduces a special menu lineup featuring three types of “Dragon Quest Burgers” and refreshing beverages inspired by the game’s iconic monsters.

A defining feature of the new burgers is the custom-made bun, which features a distinct slit designed to resemble the sword strike of a legendary hero.
The collaboration menu includes the following items:
- Chunky Potato & Thick Beef Addictive Consommé Pepper Mayo

This burger stacks a savory beef patty with a crispy “zag-cut” potato patty for a satisfying texture.

It is topped with a roasted soy sauce-style sauce and a mayonnaise sauce accented with consommé, garlic, and black pepper.
- Hot Chili & Tartar Chicken

A large chicken breast patty serves as the base for this spicy and creamy creation.

It pairs a spicy hot chili garlic sauce with a rich tartar sauce to create an addictive flavor profile.
- Cheese Double Teriyaki

This hearty option features two pork patties coated in a traditional teriyaki glaze.

It is finished with rich cheese and fresh lettuce, all served on the special sword-slit collaboration bun.
On the beverage side, the “Mac Fizz” and “Mac Float” arrive in a new “Refreshing Yogurt Soda” flavor.

These drinks are designed to mimic the vivid blue color of a Slime, spreading the signature hue throughout the cup when stirred.

To enhance the immersion, all burgers will be served in special collaboration packaging, while the drinks feature limited-edition cups with Slime illustrations.

To promote the launch, a new television commercial featuring Nogizaka46 member Miku Ichinose will begin airing on December 27.

The ad depicts Ichinose as a McDonald’s crew member casting spells like “Merazoma” (Kafrizz) to create the legendary burgers.

Additionally, a massive outdoor advertisement featuring the Dragon Quest Burgers will be displayed at Roppongi Hills from January 5 to January 18.

This fast-food collaboration is just one part of a major marketing push for the Dragon Quest franchise in early 2026.
Earlier this month, McDonald’s revealed a lottery campaign offering customers the chance to win a set of Dragon Quest nesting figures based on their own mascot characters and the Dragon Quest series’ iconic Slime enemy.

Suntory has also recently revealed a partnership to release limited-edition “Monster Bottles” for beverages like C.C. Lemon and Dekavita C.

That campaign coincides with the release of the upcoming remake, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, offering fans multiple ways to celebrate the series through food and drink.

With both McDonald’s and Suntory launching significant tie-ins, Dragon Quest fans will have ample opportunity to immerse themselves in the game’s world this winter.

The “Dragon Quest Burgers” are priced starting at 490 yen (approx. $3.20 USD / £2.50 GBP) for a single item.
Value Sets will be available starting from 540 yen (approx. $3.50 USD / £2.80 GBP).

The collaboration menu is scheduled to launch at McDonald’s locations nationwide on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
The sales period is expected to run until early February 2026.
