Masahiro Sakurai to host hour-long Kirby’s Air Rider Nintendo Direct ahead of launch
Nintendo has announced a new, dedicated presentation for its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 title, Kirby Air Riders.
The new broadcast will air on Thursday, October 23rd, at 10:00 PM JST.
The presentation is scheduled to be approximately 60 minutes long and will once again be hosted by the game’s director, Masahiro Sakurai, who was also the creator of the original Kirby Air Ride for the GameCube.
Sakurai has recently been the subject of a new biographical manga, created by the publisher East Press, which offers fans a closer look at his influential career in the video game industry.
This new broadcast will serve as the final deep dive into the game’s features ahead of its launch next month.
The first dedicated Direct for the game, which was broadcast back in August, gave fans their first in-depth look at the title, which is a full sequel to the 2003 cult classic.
That presentation confirmed the game would be a joint development between Sakurai’s studio, Sora Ltd., and Bandai Namco, and revealed its November 20th release date.
It was also confirmed that the new game builds upon the original’s unique one-button control scheme, where machines accelerate automatically, leaving the player to focus on steering and a single button for drifting, braking, and boosting.
The first Direct also revealed the return of the fan-favorite “City Trial” mode, which will support up to 16 players online as they explore a large sandbox island to collect power-ups before competing in a final stadium event.
Fans can tune in to this second Direct to get their final look at the highly anticipated racing game ahead of its release.
