Mario Kart World: Version 1.6.0 Adds Bob-omb Blast Mode

Nintendo has officially released version 160 for Mario Kart World on the Switch 2 as of March 30, 2026.

This latest update introduces the Bob-omb Blast mode to the Battle category, allowing players to hold up to 10 explosives at once and adjust throw distance by holding the L Button.

General gameplay adjustments in this March 30, 2026, patch include performance buffs for Bullet Bill, such as increased speed on courses like Bowser’s Castle and Starview Peak, and enhanced lateral movement.

The boomerang item received a nerf to its range and consecutive throw count, while item box probabilities and character-specific invincibility times based on weight classes have been recalibrated.

Technical fixes addressed in the update resolve issues where creatures from Kamek’s magic would fall through the ground or items like Thwomps would appear incorrectly in Airship Fortress.

The developers fixed several collision and terrain bugs across various tracks, including instances where players fell through the map in Salty Salty Speedway or got stuck on fences in Mario Circuit.

Online and Wireless Play stability was improved by shortening course roulette times and correcting ranking display errors that occurred during Knockout Tours.

The March 30, 2026, patch also rectified a gliding distance glitch between Airship Fortress and Dry Bones Burnout and fixed shortcut-related ranking issues on the Rainbow Road course.
