Luke and Asche inspire new limited edition Tales of the Abyss chronograph watch

A second anniversary timepiece based on the popular “Tales” RPG series has been revealed, this time honoring the 20th anniversary of Tales of the Abyss.
Originally released on the PlayStation 2 in December 2005, Tales of the Abyss is widely considered one of the masterpieces of Bandai Namco’s long-running RPG franchise.

The story follows Luke fon Fabre, a sheltered noble who is thrust into a complex conflict involving ancient prophecies and cloning technology, forcing him to discover the “meaning of birth” alongside his rival, Asch.

The new “Tales of the Abyss 20th Anniversary Watch” captures the duality of Luke and Asch through a sophisticated design centered on a Moon Phase mechanism.

Located at the 6 o’clock position, this traditional complication tracks the lunar cycle using a disc featuring an illustration based on Eldrant, the memorable setting of the game’s climatic confrontation between the two characters.

The connection between the two is further emphasized by the watch hands, which are intricately molded to resemble their respective swords, and the hour markers at 3 and 9 o’clock, which feature motifs drawn from their costumes.

The dial is finished with a guilloche pattern based on the game’s logo and is set with two genuine diamonds to mark the 20-year milestone.

A playful touch is hidden on the crown, which is engraved with a sleeping “Buu-sagi” (Rappig) mascot blowing a snot bubble.

Designed for versatility, the watch features a 36mm stainless steel case that fits comfortably on both men and women.

It includes a “2-way” strap system, allowing owners to switch between a metal band for a sharp look and a brown leather belt for a more casual style.

The package also includes a custom acrylic watch stand featuring a “moonlit night” design inspired by the game’s ending, where users can choose to display either Luke or Asch.

In a tribute to the game’s original launch year, production is strictly limited to 2,005 units.
Each watch will include a guarantee card featuring the game’s box art as well as a faux leather storage box.

The watch is priced at 29,700 yen (approx. $200.00 USD / £158.00 GBP) and is available for order via the Fulton Japan online store.
This release coincides with a Tales of Phantasia 30th Anniversary Watch, which was also announced this week, offering fans of the series two distinct ways to celebrate the franchise’s history.
